Luis Berenguer Participates in the Madrid Conference on Law
The first edition of the Madrid Conference on Law, to be held on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of April in Madrid, has gathered, through more than 60 speeches, more than one thousand lawyers, in order to analyze ongoing legislative changes and their impact on the professional development of the legal profession, and to deal with some of the most important subjects in the field of the profession and to look into the services provided by the Colegio de Abogados of Madrid and Professional Exchange Experiences.
Luis Berenguer, Senior Advisor in the Competition Department of BROSETA and former President of the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC), has participated as a speaker at the round table “Balance of performance and immediate challenges of the CNMC”, alongside Juan Jiménez-Laiglesia, Partner at DLA Piper and Head of International Competition, and Marina Serrano, Partner of Pérez-Llorca.
During his speech, Luis Berenguer analyzed the evolution of the sanctioning policy on Competition from the law on defense of competition of 1989 to the present day, finally commenting on the recent enactment by the CNMC on dairy companies, of a sanction which, according to the Senior Advisor of BROSETA, has not been implemented successfully, and has not achieved either proportionality or the desired deterrent effect.
