BROSETA strengthens its Energy and Ecological Transition practice with the incorporation of Andrés Campaña

With the aim of responding to a constantly changing regulatory environment and accompanying organisations in a future scenario in which the ecological transition will be one of the pillars of transformation and growth, BROSETA has strengthened its Energy and Ecological Transition practice with the incorporation of Andrés Campaña, a lawyer specialising in Corporate and Energy Law from Iberdrola, a company he has been a part of for the last 16 years.

At the multinational energy company, Andrés Campaña has held the positions of director of the Gas legal service (2005/06), director of the global legal services of Energy Management and Sales (2006/17), director of the global legal services of Finance and Resources (2017/20) and international coordinator of the legal affairs of the Liberalised Business (2020/21). In addition, and prior to that (between 2000 and 2005), Campaña was a lawyer in the litigation department of the legal services firm Cuatrecasas.

Consolidated track record in a strategic sector
With a degree in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid, a Master’s degree in Land and Urban Planning Policy from the Carlos III University and various international leadership programmes (Global Leadership Programme, IMD Business School; Driving Leadership Transformation Programme, IMD Business School and IESE), Andrés has extensive advisory and litigation experience in corporate law.

In the energy field, BROSETA‘s new partner has a notable track record in natural gas supply contracts with national and international operators and various energy projects; commercial arbitration related to energy contracts and projects, as well as third party access to networks, subject to Spanish, Mexican, English, Algerian and New York law; competition sanctioning law (abuse of dominant position, collusive practices, distortion of free competition, etc.) and sectoral energy law; consumer law; and energy regulation (monitoring, analysis and advice; challenging unfavourable resolutions and provisions), among others.

He has also regularly acted as Secretary of the Board of Directors and of the Audit and Compliance Committee, and has acted as Director in subsidiaries and investee companies with national and international groups in multiple jurisdictions; also directing and coordinating legal teams in different jurisdictions (Spain, UK, USA, Mexico, Brazil).

A moment of maximum transcendence
For Rosa Vidal, Managing Partner of BROSETA, “the incorporation of Andrés to our Energy team takes place at a transcendental moment. Society, organisations and other institutions are increasingly aware of the relevance of the ecological transition as a pillar of social and economic transformation. With Andrés’ extensive experience, we are consolidating our sectoral practice in this area in order to continue to be a benchmark legal services firm that generates sustainable value for society and our clients”.

For his part, Andrés Campaña considers it “an extraordinary challenge to be able to form part of a growing firm like BROSETA, with a fully Iberian dimension and to which I will try to contribute my experience in all areas of energy projects and with all the actors in the sector: producers, promoters, suppliers, vendors, operators, marketers, network managers, financial institutions, investors and funds”.

With these incorporations, BROSETA now has a team of more than 150 lawyers in Spain and Portugal, 35 of them partners, providing services in the main areas of Business Law.
