BROSETA, Protagonist at the Congress of the International Union of Lawyers

More than 1,200 lawyers from more than 80 countries gathered to discuss, in around 40 working sessions, issues such as mobility in the Migration Act and the legal balance between economic growth, protectionism, and human rights; and brands in sport, business and law.

The Congress saw the participation of personalities such as the Minister of Justice, Rafael Catalá; the first Deputy Mayor of Valencia, Joan Calabuig; the Minister of Justice of the Valencian Community, Gabriela Bravo; the Government delegate, Juan Carlos Moragues, and members of the Quartet of the Tunisian National Dialogue and Nobel Peace Prize Winners in 2015 for their contribution to the construction of a pluralist democracy in Tunisia, Mohamed Fadhel Mahfoudh, Dean of the National College of lawyers of Tunisia, and Abdessattar ben Moussa, President of the Tunisian League of Human Rights.

From BROSETA, various professionals participated in working sessions, such as Antonio J. Navarro, Partner and Head of the Banking and Finance Department (“shadow banking, towards a diversification of the actors in the financing sector”), Salma Cantos, Senior Lawyer in the Public Law Department (“Administrative Law. The expropriation of property rights”) and Alfonso Carrillo, Senior Lawyer Litigation (“Mediation and Conflict Prevention. Mediation according to the experts, what works, what doesn’t and why”).

The UIA is the only Association of multicultural and multilingual lawyers worldwide. For more than 85 years this organization has fought in defence of legal practice and the promotion of international relations, cooperation and the training of lawyers. It brings together more than 2,000 members from 150 countries and its Congress, which is held every year in a different city, brings together lawyers from all over the world.

Spain has hosted the annual UIA Congress three times in its 85 years of existence (twice in Madrid and once in Seville).
